The first quarter of 2023 saw a diverse performance among the top 5 navigation and maps applications in Africa, with data sourced from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps Go maintained a consistent download rate, peaking at around 63K downloads in the first week of January, and then gradually declining to approximately 51K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated slightly, reaching a high of 3M in late January but subsequently decreasing to about 2.7M by the end of the quarter.

Google Earth experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, peaking at around 57K in mid-February before settling at 45K by the end of March. Active user numbers saw a gradual rise, reaching approximately 378K in mid-March before slightly declining to about 373K by the end of the period.

Active user numbers mirrored this trend, reaching a high of approximately 64K in late February and then decreasing to about 47K by the end of the quarter.
